Château Haut Sociondo2019
Vignobles Gabriel & Co · AOC Blaye Côtes de Bordeaux
Deep, almost black in colour. The subtle and pleasant nose of summer berries pierces through unmistakeable, softly wooded notes of vanilla and cocoa, with hints of tobacco. On the palate the wood subtly marks the attack, giving way rapidly to a full-bodied roundness underpinned by a high-quality tannic structure, with notes of pepper and dark berries. A wine with great potential.

Winemaking
Château Haut Sociondo overlooks the Gironde estuary from the heights of the village of Cars, on one of the most famous slopes of the Blaye Côtes de Bordeaux appellation. The estate covers 15 hectares on clay and clay-limestone soil, south/south-west facing, at an altitude of 61 meters. Grapes are harvested by machine at the end of September/beginning of October. Cold maceration precedes fermentation, with slow alcoholic fermentation under temperature regulation, pumping-over 2-3 times a day followed by délestage, and a smooth maceration of 3 weeks at 22°C. The wine is aged in cement vats with wooden staves ("dominos"). The estate has held organic agriculture certification since 2021.
