Briones Abbad · D.O. Ribera del Duero · Roa
Cherry red with violet hues, clean and bright. Fresh red fruit (strawberry and raspberry) with citrus aromas, alongside ripe black forest fruit (blueberry, blackberry and blackcurrant) and subtle toasted notes. A fresh, well-balanced wine, smooth and velvety, with medium acidity and a marked ripe-fruit character. An elegant finish with toasted notes, persistent and long.
Pairs with: Iberian charcuterie, ham croquettes and semi-cured cheeses. Its fruity, approachable profile is ideal for tapas, aperitifs and charcuterie boards.

Winemaking
Named for the old Roa railway station: in 2018 Luis Ángel and Carmen bought and restored the family's former store there, built around 1956, which had belonged to Carmen's grandparents. The figure on the label, with top hat and briefcase, is D. Pablo Abad, the village doctor. 100% Tempranillo from the family's own vineyards in the Trinitaria and El Pino areas of La Horra, at 820 m, on sandy, calcareous and gravelly soils (4,000 vines/ha, yield capped at 3,800 kg/ha). Hand-harvested into 15 kg crates with double selection in the vineyard and winery. Cold-macerated for 48 hours, fermented with native yeasts below 28 °C, then aged 12–13 months in 500-liter French oak barrels (medium toast, fine grain). Serve at 12–16 °C.
About Briones Abbad
Makers of the Cantamuda wines: a family project of Carmen and Luis Ángel in Ribera del Duero, from their own vineyards around La Horra, near Roa: high-altitude sites such as La Trinitaria and El Pino at 810–820 m, on sandy, calcareous and gravelly soils. Everything is hand-harvested into 15 kg boxes and selected twice, in the vineyard and again at the winery. In 2018 the family bought and restored their old store at the Roa railway station, built around 1956.
