Duquesa de la Victoria Blanco
Valdelana · D.O.Ca. Rioja · Rioja Alavesa
Pale yellow with greenish highlights. Very intense on the nose, with tropical fruit, passion fruit and mango, plus notes of stone fruit (apricot, peach), a fruit salad of white fruits with hints of fennel. Broad, silky and fresh on the palate, with acidity balanced against its alcohol; a mineral, white-flower complexity lingers on the finish.
Pairs with: Pairs excellently with aperitifs, assorted tapas, rice dishes, pasta, white meats and fish.

Winemaking
50% Malvasía, 50% Viura (a minority, scarce Rioja variety suited to dry climates and poor soils, and sensitive to humidity). Vineyard over 60 years old on calcareous clay soil, Mediterranean climate with Atlantic influence, average rainfall 650 L/year. Harvested the second week of September; cold maceration, fermented under controlled temperature for two weeks, then aged 3 months on its fine lees. Serve cool, 6–8°C.
About Valdelana
The Valdelana family has grown grapes in Elciego (Rioja Alavesa) since the end of the 19th century, farming around 150 hectares of Tempranillo, Mazuelo, Graciano, Viura and Malvasía at fairly low yields. Juan Jesús Valdelana, third generation of the family, is winemaker and manager; the estate produces wines exclusively from its own grapes to control quality from vineyard to bottle.
