Winemaking

95% Tempranillo, 5% Graciano, from old vines over 70 years old yielding fewer than 4 clusters per plant. Hand-harvested in 20 kg crates. Cold fermented, then aged 3 months in French oak.

About Valdelana

The Valdelana family has grown grapes in Elciego (Rioja Alavesa) since the end of the 19th century, farming around 150 hectares of Tempranillo, Mazuelo, Graciano, Viura and Malvasía at fairly low yields. Juan Jesús Valdelana, third generation of the family, is winemaker and manager; the estate produces wines exclusively from its own grapes to control quality from vineyard to bottle.
