Winemaking

100% Petit Verdot from the Uco Valley in Mendoza, grown by small producers working to organic and biodynamic principles. Hand-harvested, fermented spontaneously at controlled temperature and bottled without fining, then matured in barrel, half French and half American oak. Mara is a project of Ernesto Catena; the mará, the Patagonian hare, is the animal on every label.

About Bodega Mara

Mara de Uco is a project of Ernesto Catena, oenologist and eldest son of Nicolás Catena Zapata. It buys from small growers working to organic and biodynamic principles, part of the fruit from vineyards above 1,300 metres, and ferments spontaneously at controlled temperature without fining. The range is built on black grapes: Pinot Noir from Patagonia, and Petit Verdot, Cabernet Franc and Bonarda from Mendoza. The mará, the Patagonian hare, is the animal on every label.
